Shakopee has a lot of people who work somewhere else. 169 north into the west metro, 101 and 41 the other way, and a fair number of employers right here with big open lots. That produces a specific vehicle: high mileage, lived in five days a week, and parked outside for eight hours a day.
What that does to an interior is gradual and easy to miss until you look at a two year old car next to a five year old one. Coffee rings on the console. A driver’s seat bolster worn and dulled from getting in and out twice a day. A dash top that has taken full afternoon sun through the windshield for years and started to go chalky. We are about fifteen minutes away in Savage, either across 101 and up 13 or out 169 and over on 42 depending on which side of town you are on. No travel fee for Shakopee, the listed price is the price.
Two options that work well here. The obvious one is your driveway. The one people forget is your workplace. If you park in an open lot for eight hours anyway, that’s eight hours the car is sitting still and available, and a lot of Shakopee customers just have us come to the lot while they’re inside working. If you do that, check with whoever manages the property first, since some lots have rules about it.
We bring our own water and power either way, so nothing needs to be run out to us. What we do need is room to open all four doors and walk around the vehicle.
Winter changes it. Between December and March, outdoor work in Shakopee is usually off the table unless there’s a garage. Otherwise the shop in Savage handles it indoors. And if the car needs glass, window tint is always a drop off at the shop, mobile isn’t an option for film.
